More floods were today forecast for the Midlands in the next 24 hours - with half a month's worth of rain expected to fall in just a few hours.

The Met Office said more than an inch of rain could fall in some parts of the region tomorrow.

That comes on top of flash floods this week and last Friday which have brought chaos to parts of the region.

An emergency meeting was being held at the Severn Valley Railway today to discuss how to repair tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage caused by landslides on Tuesday.

Two-thirds of the railway in Shropshire and Worcestershire were closed when two weeks worth of rain fell in 45 minutes, causing landslides which blocked sections of track.

Towns along the Severn Valley, along with Shifnal, Albrighton and Bridgnorth, are still mopping up after homes were flooded, bridges damaged and roads blocked.

Met Office forecaster John Hammond today said that violent storms are again expected, with areas hit likely to be vulnerable to more localised flooding.

The rain is expected to sweep into the region from late afternoon and last into the weekend.

He said: "There's more heavy rain to come."
