Waiting for green bins

If everyone is supposed to be issued with green plastic bins in which to dispose of their garden refuse, how come a small number of houses in Dudley Port don't have one?

This minority of householders (about 20) is located on a short stretch of main road from the traffic lights at Sedgley Road East down to the Ryland Aqueduct.

Can you imagine our chagrin every other Wednesday as we commute to our places of work to see everyone else in Dudley Port proudly presenting their green bins for collection?

Picture the expression of outrage on my face when turning up at Shidas Lane recycling centre to dump my own garden rubbish (because the council have not provided collection), I spot a whole compound of shiny plastic bins lined up like a Green Party answer to the Terracotta Army, all safely locked away behind bars.

There have been numerous telephone calls to the council, a number of e-mails have been sent and yet no one has provided us with an explanation as to why we are binless. At the beginning of March we were told everyone would have one by the end of the month. Hello! It is now the end of May!

My father even contacted our local councillor who promised to look into it and call back. That was two weeks ago and to quote Diana Ross "I'm still waiting". Don't count on my vote, Mr Haque, at the next council election!

If anyone can shed any light as to why the council has a stock of green bins currently incarcerated in Oldbury while members of the tax paying community are still awaiting their delivery, please let me know.

I'm all for recycling if I'm provided the means with which to recycle!
