The tug boat Bittell operated by Steve Bingham will be reunited with sister boat Pacific, which is now owned by an enthusiast from Watford.

Both boats were retired in 1957 and the event will be the first time in half century they have been together on the canals.

It takes place at Blowers Green pumphouse, Peartree Lane, on June 9 and 10 and features a chance for visitors to take a boat trip to Merry Hill, passing through the deepest lock on the Birmingham canal navigation.

Also on show over the weekend will be vintage vehicles and some models from the Stourbridge pre-war club.

Organiser Mr Bingham will also be displaying some of his prized vehicles, including a 1932 model A Ford lorry and two cars built in 1935.

He said: "The event will be a great day for everyone, whether or not you are a boating enthusiast. We try to put on a variety of attractions to entertain everyone. It also aims to be educational about the canals and the tunnels."

Other attractions featured will be stationary engines from the 1940s, a model steam engine and exhibits from Sandwell Model Boat Club.

Dudley Canal Trust organises trips to give people an opportunity to travel the complete length of Dudley Tunnel and also visit the borough's famous Limestone Mines.
