I hear we now have a National Bread Week. To mark this occasion, Warburtons, the bread firm, have created a special sandwich that won't go soggy and keeps insects at bay while picnicking.

Apparently the main ingredient of the special sandwich is chilli flakes, which act as an insect repellent. This is all well and good because, as we all know, wasps can be a pest at certain times of the year when picnicking.

May I suggest they now do a bit of research into why bread goes mouldy so quickly, because this is something that never used to happen.

My mother bought bread in bulk, six loaves at a time, with no fridge, but we never had mouldy bread. Maybe stale, but no mould.
