Youngsters from across Staffordshire have been invited to attend a workshop which aims to turn today's children into tomorrow's business stars.

The next generation of Sir Richard Branson and Sir Alan Sugar are invited to take part in an all-day event, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, in the Midlands on June 2.

It is open to 10 to 18-year-olds and has been arranged by Vistage International, the world's largest chief executive development organisation.

Those who attend will be taught a variety of tools to help them achieve their future goals, and will be coached by Vistage's world-class speakers.

The young delegates will also improve their reading speeds and memory retention skills, to assist with future exam performance.

Vistage already has more than 13,500 members globally, and UK members' companies have a combined turnover of more than £10 billion. On average, those who join double their turnover and treble their profitability after three years. In the Midlands, 11 Vistage groups meet for intensive monthly development sessions, during which members act as one another's non-executive directors.

The organisation has turned its focus upon the younger generation, after Vistage regional chairman Bob Battye discovered that a member's daughter had failed to turn up for a GCSE exam.

Mr Battye said: "It doesn't matter how old or young you are – the principles for success are the same. Children who have benefited from top-level guidance will develop their life skills at a rate of knots, can extend their possibilities and are set up to get whatever they want out of life."

The one-off event includes acclaimed motivational speaker Marcus Child, who began his career as a schoolteacher, who will show each child how to tap into his or her potential. The second speaker is David Thomas, an award-winning coach who teaches business leaders to speed-read up to 1,800 words a minute. The workshop is £200 per child at the Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield, from 9am to 5pm.
