Midlands Co-op is hoping their latest fundraiser will bloom into a profitable idea for the Alzheimer's Society.
Limited edition Forget Me Not seeds are on sale in Midlands Co-op outlets in Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton upon Trent.
Each pack costs just £1 and all profits from the sale of the seeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Society – Midlands Co-op's 2007 charity. Cyrrhian Macrae, head of community & co-operative affairs at Midlands Co-op, said: "Every year Midlands Co-op pledges to raise at least £100,000 for its adopted charity.
"The limited edition Forget Me Not seeds will be available from all our trading outlets and if we sell out, we will raise a massive £10,000 for the Alzheimer's Society, a figure which our customers and staff can be justly proud of."
Liz Terrett, Alzheimer's Society's regional fundraiser for the West Midlands, said: "This is the first time we have introduced a fundraising idea of this kind and we are delighted the seeds will be available in over 400 Midlands Co-op outlets.
"Forget Me Not seeds carry a very poignant message for the Alzheimer's Society and will help us to continue to support people with dementia and their carers," the fundraiser added.
"We would like to say thank you to all Midlands Co-op customers that support this worthy initiative."
