In less than a week thieves have targeted a van and two pick-up trucks, broken in, and stolen equipment.

Now police are warning motorists to be on their guard against opportunist thieves.

On Wednesday crooks broke into a Vauxhall Brava pick-up truck in Catersfield Lane at Stonnall.

The night before thieves drilled the lock on a white Ford Transit van parked overnight at the Olde Corner House Hotel, Muckley Corner, and stole a large quantity of tools.

And on Monday a white Ford Transit pick-up truck was parked in Stowe Road, Lichfield, when it was broken into.

Tools stolen included a Sthil saw and cordless drill.

Inspector Mike Kozam, commander of Lichfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said police would step up patrols.

And people who are offered cut price tradesman's tools are urged to contact police.

"Thieves are evidently looking to steal tools and other items of value so our advice is not to leave tools in parked vehicles," said Insp Kozam.
