Businessman Tony Papadopoullos is putting more than £500,000 into his convenience store in a revamp which will see Burntwood's first Subway outlet.

The new-look store, due to be unveiled in early June, will feature the Subway outlet; a free ATM; hot and cold drinks; a bakery section; beers, wines and spirits; news section; a wide selection of food items and Real Deal promotions.

He has been trading for the last 16 years and a total of 35 people are employed.

The new look store could see upto a further seven positions created.

The store will be open as work takes place, it will closed two or three days before a grand reopening.

"I am really excited about the store rebuild and I am confident that customers, old and new, will benefit from the extension," said Mr Papadopoullos.

"With our increase in staff and fantastic new facilities, this service can only get better. The new facilities and the look of the store will certainly make this a Spar of the 21st century." He bought premises next door to expand.
