Chance to bag a classic design

It's the designer bag of the moment and it's only a fiver. Plus, the good news is that it goes on sale in a supermarket chain across the region next week.

But the bad news for those keen to get their hands on the 'I'm not a plastic bag' is that there will only be 30 bags on sale at each store.

The simple, rope-handled, sturdy cotton shopping bag has been created by accessory designer Anya Hindmarch.

She joined forces with Sainsbury's and global social change movement We Are What We Do to produce the limited edition environmentally friendly bag.

The limited edition bag-with-a-conscience has caused a frenzy among followers of fashion and celebrities, such as Pirates Of The Caribbean actress Keira Knightley, have been spotted out shopping with one.

Hundreds of people queued for hours when the £5 shopping bag first went on sale at Hindmarch's London store last year.

And fans of the bag are so keen to add a fashionable edge to their green streak that they are bidding up to £75 on ebay to get one. But on Wednesday the bag will go on sale at Sainsbury's nationwide from 8am.

Due to the unprecedented levels of interest it has already received, Sainsbury's says it is expecting the bags to sell out very quickly that morning.

The store's helpline has reported thousands of inquiries about the bag.

Due to the limited amounts of bags, Sainsbury's says the £5 bag will be limited to one per customer, no reservations will be accepted and it will not be available to buy on-line.

Local stores selling the bags from 8am on Wednesday include Sainsbury's at Perton, Wolverhampton, Merry Hill, Wednesfield, Reedswood in Walsall, Oldbury, Amblecote, Kidderminster, Cannock and Stafford.
