Can someone please tell me why both Sandwell and Walsall councils have gone mad putting traffic lights everywhere? First Sandwell Council put a number of them in the Stone Cross area and they have since caused utter chaos. Instead of helping traffic problems it has just increased them ten fold.

Then, because drivers were cutting through side streets to avoid the queues caused by the lights, the council had to spend more money putting speed humps around these roads.

Not to mention the waste-of-time bus lanes which the buses don't bother to use!

I pass through Stone Cross on a daily basis and it's always ridiculous, with traffic everywhere, but one day last week it was magic - no traffic. Yes, you've guessed it, the lights were all out of action and traffic was flowing just as it should.

Now Walsall Council seems to be going down the same line. I come out of work and in a 150-yard stretch I now have to go through three sets of lights in an area that certainly doesn't warrant them.

Are these councils buying these lights cheap or are they on commission for the amount of lights they can put up in one area?

We as a country are supposed to be cutting down on emissions into the environment, but surely these lights are not helping the situation one bit due to the cars just sitting at lights going nowhere.

Am I the only one that finds these lights infuriating and unnecessary?
