Not too late to save pool
I was pleased to see Councillor Neville Patten's comments about the demolition of Bushbury Baths and the demise of swimming in general in Wolverhampton.

He made the point that although Wednesfield Leisure Centre is very good and offers a great deal, people who live in other areas will have to travel by car in order to use the centre. This is at variance with the idea that we should be using our cars less, and two bus journeys will be too time consuming, so people won't bother.
The councillor for leisure in Wolverhampton was recently reported as being happy to offer "the swimming experience" when discussing the new controversial swimming sessions at Central Baths for a relatively small number of people. What about the swimming experience for all the people who live a good distance from Wednesfield?
At the moment, Compton Park baths are still open, and if the council can afford £700,000 per year towards the running costs of the Wednesfield centre, surely they can afford a much smaller amount to keep Compton Baths open. This would give local school children and the community this side of the city the swimming experience with no extra travelling.
It is too late to save Heath Town and Bushbury Baths, but it is not too late to save Compton Baths.
Mrs Jan Fox, Marchant Road, Wolverhampton.
