Radio presenter Anna "Ginger" Sykes has suddenly left The Wolf radio station, where she presented the breakfast show, it was revealed today.

She has parted company with her co-host Dicky Dodd, who is also the programme manager at the Wolverhampton station.

Dicky, who was today presenting an outside broadcast at Ikea alone, today confirmed that she had left because she had "golden opportunity" elsewhere.

But the station's website was today still advertising the Dicky and Ginger breakfast show and her face remains on billboards and buses across the city.

The 25-year-old has become a firm favourite with listeners over the past two years since landing a job on the station's coveted morning show. She beat off 1,500 hopefuls for the chance to become Dicky Dodd's co-host when the station launched a competition.

But the station's format is being altered to bring in more music and less chat and from Monday Dicky will present the show alone.

Ginger confirmed today that she was leaving but would give no more details.

She said: "I've had a fantastic foundation and The Wolf has given me an amazing opportunity that I have taken with both hands.

"But the time has come now with other things in the pipeline for me to move on. I have loved every second on air with Dicky and I am very sad to be leaving."

Dicky Dodd said: "We have had a great time and it is a great shame she is leaving.

"She has been given a golden opportunity with her career. When opportunities come up then you have to take them."
