'Tis the season for lessons
Recent developments in our ever deepening "politically correctness at all costs" country, which seems to have been taken over and is being run by foreigners bent on the UK's imminent demise, has heartened me.
Recent developments in our ever deepening "politically correctness at all costs" country, which seems to have been taken over and is being run by foreigners bent on the UK's imminent demise, has heartened me.BA's insistence that staff be forced to hide all badges of any religious affiliation (except Muslim of course) under their uniforms has at last been withdrawn. Unfortunately it seems that this was only achieved by the belated threat by the Church of England to sell off its not inconsiderable quantity of BA shares.
As the Archbishop of York, Dr Sentanu, sensibly pointed out, the ludicrous position that BA was pursuing, in sacking staff openly wearing crosses on their uniforms in a nation which should rightly consider itself Christian regarding, while allowing Muslims to wear their religious paraphernalia, beggars belief!
The Archbishop of Canterbury (a belated convert eventually recognising the public outcry) then dealt the coup de grace threat on behalf of the Church, which rightly concentrated the minds of the BA board.
The earlier attempt at banning the celebration of Christmas in favour of "Winterval" by Birmingham City councillors does indeed make you wonder how seriously out of touch with traditional reality some of our so-called representatives are.
We need more emphasis in schools and other institutions that it is Christ's birth we are celebrating here.
Children in particular should be made aware that this is not merely a materialistic season of self indulgence, but that we should be thinking of how we can improve the lot of the deprived and lonely in our society at Christmastime, as exemplified in Christ's subsequent life.
