The 22-year old fashion student from Lichfield who came third after reaching the grand final of the BBC's recent hit show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, has just signed on the dotted line after weeks of talks.

The show winner Connie Fisher has gone on to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new West End production of The Sound of Music.

But Siobhan says she is absolutely thrilled with her latest career move, having spent the last six weeks working with some of the best people in the business.

Collaborators have included people who have worked with Britney Spears, Lucy Silvas and Bryan Adams. "I haven't come back down to earth yet, and things are getting better and better," said Siobhan, a former pupil of The Friary School.

"I have signed a deal with the label Polydor, and will be doing a few albums."

Siobhan revealed her first album will include a maximum of two covers - possibly Eva Cassidy's Songbird which she performed in the show - and the rest will be material she has been writing with songwriters.

"I have been asked not to reveal any details of the songs but I can say it's not heavy metal," said Siobhan. "I am hoping to touch people with my lyrics."

Siobhan revealed that along with the other finalists on the show, she went to see Connie at the recent premiere of The Sound of Music. "She was amazing," said Siobhan.

"The first time she opened her mouth I was crying, and I didn't stop until the finale. I was watching a friend."
