Park show a let-down
Being new to the area, my partner and I decided to give the West Park Fireworks a try on Saturday. Here are some thoughts that may help to improve the experience in future years.
Being new to the area, my partner and I decided to give the West Park Fireworks a try on Saturday. Some thoughts that may help to improve the experience in future years:
Signs to say where the fireworks are actually going to be set off would be good. Only when they started did we have any inkling of their origin.
Toilets - don't mind using Portaloos, but why were they all sited in the darkest corners that could possibly have been found. Maybe some floodlighting there might help, as undressing/ dressing in pitch darkness isn't very easy on a cold night when one is wrapped up warm.
The food stalls were a total rip-off. The playing of loud and totally irrelevant music during the fireworks themselves somewhat reduced the experience
How many people actually could see the motorcycle stunt team? Unless a front row place had been secured then I suggest very few
We didn't find out until we arrived at 6pm that the fireworks were not due till 8.30pm. The limited alternative entertainment left us wandering aimlessly for much of the time. We asked if our tickets allowed us to leave and come back, but no-one could give us a definitive answer.
The fireworks and bonfire were great, some of the best we have seen, but we think there is room for improvement in other areas.
