I feel the need to stick up for the hard-working lads who have had to put up with bad press about the roadworks. Here in Codsall, we've had some work being done on the gas pipes. These chaps work long hours in all the weather God sends to make sure there isn't anything wrong with the ones that have been there years. I hear annoying people complaining about how long it's taking and the mess, but when are these small-minded people going to realise that it's for our benefit?

These moaners need to realise it is a highly important job and that pipes do not last forever. You might have to walk round a barrier, you might have to drive round a short diversion - so what! I'd rather do that than walk past it then get blown up from a leak. (Dramatic I know, but you all know what I mean!)

Give these decent, hardworking men a break, give them a cup of tea and a biscuit. Stop moaning, and be grateful for what they do. You never know, they might actually be saving your life!
