Great time to be Tory
I am writing in response to your article on the amalgamation of Wolverhampton's Conservative associations (October 19). I have long been a supporter of the Tory party, although they have been far from active in my ward.
I am writing in response to your article on the amalgamation of Wolverhampton's Conservative associations (October 19). I have long been a supporter of the Tory party, although they have been far from active in my ward. In fact, last year's General Election was the first time in nearly 20 years that either I or my husband saw a Conservative canvasser in our street.
But things are changing. Last year we saw fresh blood entering the council on the Tory benches; I'm sure the same will be true this year and that after the local elections we will finally see a younger, more willing-to-win Conservative group leader emerging who can take on Labour and be a fine council leader in waiting. It's about time, too.
The Conservatives under David Cameron are changing, and for the better. In Wolverhampton it is delightful to see that the forward-thinking associations are joining together in order to defeat the Labour Party that has for too many years had a monopoly over local government in our city.
It is fantastic to see they are selling off their office in Wolverhampton South East and will be no doubt investing that money in campaigning. It's an exciting time to be a Conservative voter in Wolverhampton!
