Our ward is ignored
Our MP, Pat McFadden, should be aware that local people know he has a close association with Tony Blair and Tony wanted him in a safe seat. Was there any safer seat than that of Dennis Turner in Bilston? So Dennis was promoted to Lord Turner, and Pat McFadden became MP.
We requested help for East Park, because it was obvious the elected representatives were simply not bothered about it, or the fact that youth have nowhere to go, no activities, forcing them to become crime statistics.
I would like to ask Mr McFadden a question. Lord Turner earned our support for all the good things he did for our community - will you be anywhere near as active? For us? Will you look into why the city council simply ignores East Park? The people may benefit from your concern (if you have any) for this part of Wolverhampton. We believe East Park is simply not considered. It is generally known as the worst ward in the city.
Surely it's time to put questions to the council. Why is a park donated to the city by rich benefactors simply not getting the attention it deserves? The local management committee is chaired by Cllr Pat Byrne, and as chairman she has repeatedly said eight five-a-side pitches were imminent.
The all-weather pitch has not been used for three years due to health and safety concerns. The pool is still empty after repeated promises it would be filled for summer holidays. The promises made have not materialised. Why?
It seems local people are not listened to until a few weeks before elections. I have written to the chair of the East Park Management Committee many times and have not even had the courtesy of a reply. Why? Perhaps I have struck a nerve, or perhaps local residents and park users are being ignored. Why?
I have been a Labour supporter all my life, but after the obvious and blatant ignoring of genuine tenants' and residents' appeals I don't know for how long.
