Grave words on policing
You recently published my letter putting forward my opinion that the NHS was awash with money, but that it was the manner in which it was actually spent that needed addressing.
I stand by that view.
I have just returned from visiting relatives in Hampshire and during a Sunday afternoon visited the village of Wellow.
Ironically, by pure chance, we entered the church and grounds of St Margaret's and there saw the family grave which included the remains of Florence Nightingale.
There were various conversations around the grave as to what Florence Nightingale would now think of our National Health Service and the wry smile and comment from a retired copper, who said: "What would Sir Robert Peel think about the blatant demise of basic policing on our streets?"
I said: "No comment."
And he walked off in apparent disgust.
Lesson learned from a beautiful day - politicians can fool the public so far, but there is a limit before the realisation of the truth kicks in.
