UB40 left out again
I bought a local Sunday newspaper and saw an article about the Royal Mail putting the Beatles on to stamps. The paper had nominated five people from Birmingham it said should be on the stamps - Ozzy Osbourne, Slade, Roy Wood, Jasper Carrot and Howard from the Halifax ads!
It made my blood boil because as usual another famous band from Brum was ignored, despite the fact that after 26 years they are still going strong.
They are UB40. I have been a fan since they first formed in 1980. They were all born, bred and schooled in Brum and they still have their recording studios in the city.
Yet despite having fans all over the world, still doing live acts and producing albums they hardly ever get their music played on local radio stations, most music shops don't stock their music and now even Howard gets nominated to be put on a stamp instead of them!
Shame on all the local radio stations, newspapers and anyone else who seems to forget that the band are still here and going strong. I am proud to be a UB fan and I always will be. We should be proud of them.
