Site mosque elsewhere

It will be a great disappointment to most people in Dudley to see the furthering of plans to build the giant mosque and enterprise centre. It is difficult for some of us to accept a multi-purpose building offered for all when the language specific would suggest otherwise.

Even their latest literature is a catalogue of deception and the name "Pride of Dudley" is seen as an insult to most of the Christian community, suggesting conceit or vanity rather than community pride.

As an elected member of the community at large I have a duty of care towards the majority and I have been bombarded with letters and calls of complaint and objection against this development.

It is clear from the outset that this programme is designed for the benefit of a tiny minority in Dudley in the most prominent and dominant of positions and will not be used by the general public at all.

Even if it attracted people from other areas the traffic chaos imported would be unimaginable.

We have already been deceived by the manipulation of dubious council land deals and large public donations and while we see some of our best churches crumble into decay without financial aid, this massive project has already been given much support behind the scenes.

I have received malicious phone calls and our own age-old artefacts like the Priory ruins have been referred to as "a pile of rubble in a field".

It would be better by far if the Muslim community accepted the fact that this project is not wanted by the people of Dudley and it would be far better sited elsewhere in a less prominent or dominant position.
