Teenagers no trouble

I must write about the recent articles in your Walsall edition regarding so called-problems on my estate with teenagers. My family has lived on this estate for nearly three years. It is one of the best areas in Willenhall to live, and in general is trouble-free, with a friendly atmosphere compared to other areas of Willenhall in which we have lived.

I feel I must speak up for the teenagers, who in general are good kids from affluent families and who are given no other option than to gather on street corners, as our estate has no where else for them to go. We have no community centre or youth club.

When parents let their kids out at night, especially in the school holidays, where do you think they go? What do you think they get up to? We were all young once, remember?

I could not believe it the other day when driving through the estate that the local police had posted dispersal notices on a public playing field. Is this the answer?

Walsall Council must collect a hell of an amount of council tax from our estate - where does it go? Not on our kids, that's for sure.
