Call me a 'non-theist'
A lot of readers will have nodded in agreement with the sentiments expressed in Ms Kelly's letter: "Is religion outdated?" But being brainwashed from early childhood can make it difficult to escape.

One can also be a bit put off by the description "atheist", as it has the feeling actually of belonging to something a bit dubious. I favour Sir Jonathan Miller's standpoint that he finds religion a complete irrelevance and prefers to call himself a non-theist. Probably a more accurate description for many.
