Defence of builders

In response to the letter "A dust-up over builder misery" (August 29) I feel I must defend the builders Lovell. I myself live in Meyrick Road, right next to the actual building site, and act as a spokesman for a number of residents in the Meyrick Road, Bells Moor Road and York Crescent areas and liaise with Lovell's when there are problems.

I have daily contact with the site manager and also the site director and they contact me regularly to see if everything is OK in the area and to follow up any problems.

Some of the residents and myself have had meetings with Lovell's to solve the problems we have encountered over the last few months.

We have had several problems not only with dust but other incidents which Lovell's have done everything to help resolve.

Lovell's will respond to any complaint they receive and act fairly quickly to put the problem right. As far as I know, neither I nor Lovell's have had complaints from the neighbours who live right next to the building site about noise from the workmen or their radios.

The problem of dust has been due to the amount of dry weather we have had, but I feel it will all be worth it in the long run to see the area vastly improved.
