City square an eyesore

From time to time I find myself having to walk through Wolverhampton's market square. I cannot believe that such a beautiful city square could be so badly utilised.

Wolverhampton Council must have spent an absolute fortune in council tax payers' money creatingÊ this wonderful square, to house a ramshackle market come car boot sale.

The market on a Saturday is an absolute disgrace. God only knows what out-of-town visitors think.

The quicker this market goes the better; start by putting it back on the car park next to the indoor market where it belongs. This square should be used as a meeting place for the people of Wolverhampton. The powers that be really do need to rethink what they have done to it.

Go to any major city in the world and the focal point is the city square.

Can someone explain to me who allows just anyone to set up a stall with a table and an old piece of polythene sheet?

This must be unfair to the established market traders, who have to pay their rent and rates.

Come on Wolverhampton Council, get your act together and start by tidying up the square.
