The 25-year-old who leapt into British Olympic history on the day of competition dubbed 'Super Saturday' will now be taking part in the Style Birmingham LIVE A/W12 event at the Mailbox on the 29 September.

Rutherford claimed the Olympic long jump title with a jump of 8.31m in the same hour that Mo Farah won the 10,000m event and Jessica Ennis triumphed in the heptathlon.

Afterwards the Milton Keynes man gained himself a reputation as a bit of a showman with a crowd pleasing lap of honour.

At the 'industry style' catwalk event Rutherford will be wearing the latest autumn and winter styles from the Mailbox's flagship Harvey Nicholls store.

Of course British athletes like Rutherford have become used wearing the latest style after Stella McCartney designed the Team GB and Paralympics GB strips for the London 2012 games.

Rutherford's sporting connections with the West Midlands go back to a trial with Aston Villa at the age of 13, but he is clearly relishing the opportunity to visit the region in a more unexpected capacity.

He said: "I've always been into fashion and dressing well, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the latest A/W12 trends, meeting some of the stylish audience in-between shows and especially hitting the catwalk myself for the very first time!"

Tickets for the show's catwalk start at £10 and can be purchased from theticketfactory.com.
