It's Friday afternoon. What's on your mind?

Often I'll be preparing for a weekend of darts tournaments and travelling to somewhere in England, Europe or north America to compete – but this Friday's great because I get to sleep in my own bed ahead of the Grand Slam of Darts.

Being from Wolverhampton, it's my favourite tournament and I can't wait to get back on stage.

Who normally has the pleasure of your company at the weekend?

It's usually about 120 other darts players – players like Phil Taylor and the World Champion Adrian Lewis – plus my mate Mick Banks, who travels to most of the tournaments with me. If we're not playing darts and I'm at home then, I'd be spending time with my three daughters.

How do you prepare for a big night out?

I don't have too many nights out nowadays but if I do it's a shower, shave and then – most importantly – making sure I've got enough money!

What's your favourite party outfit?

I'm a bit old for partying now at 46 but I love my darts shirt, which is gold and black – Wolves' colours! It's a bit of a theme for me now and I'm proud to wear it and represent my town.

You've just arrived at the bar. What's your first drink?

I'm a lager man and, if I'm with Mick, then it's probably my round first too!

What is your favourite nightspot and why?

My partying nights in town are probably behind me now, I'd usually be found in the Red Lion in Wednesfield when I do go out. I've got a lot of mates there and enjoy their company.

What tune always gets you on the dance floor?

I'm a heavy metal and rock fan, so it would be something like AC/DC, Judas Priest or Metallica. I don't dance too much, but my walk-on song at the darts is Metallica's Enter Sandman, that's a proper tune – although for the Grand Slam I change to Hi Ho Wolverhampton because it gets the Wolves Civic rocking.

It's a sunny Saturday. What are you up to?

I'm usually stuck inside a darts venue when it's sunny, because the Players Championship tournaments which help you to qualify for big TV events are held on weekends. If we're not away at darts though, it's nice to get down to Molineux and cheer Wolves on.

What's your most memorable weekend ever and why?

Reaching the World Championship semi-finals a few years ago was a brilliant memory but that was topped last year when I reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam. The whole week was fantastic but on Saturday I played in the quarter-finals against Gary Anderson and won, and on Sunday was my semi-final against James Wade.

Even though I lost to James, the whole weekend was amazing, the crowd were just superb and it was special seeing them singing Hi Ho Wolverhampton to me.

What's the recipe for a perfect night in?

Probably a good film, a take away and being with my daughters.

Favourite DVD? And what would you eat while watching it?

I love action films, like the Die Hard series, or even 24, and I'd probably have a Chinese takeaway.

Sunday breakfast – cooked or continental?

I try to eat as well as I can, but I still love a bacon butty!

Sunday lunch – home-cooked or down the pub?

It would have to be the massive home-cooked Sunday lunch cooked by my sister-in-law. She's fantastic and I'll have a massive plate.

Where and how do you like to relax?

I've got a Labrador called Bella and I like taking her for walks, down by the canal or the local fields. It's a good way to get away from everything.

You've got a whole weekend off and a wad of money in your back pocket – which country or city would you head to?

We travel around so much with the darts that it's nice to get a weekend at home, so I'd probably spend the money going shopping with my daughters then go watch Wolves.
