Knight at the musical! Beverley Knight returns to former school in Wolverhampton
Musical star Beverley Knight has remembered her time in education in a black tie event held at her former school.
Highfields School on Boundary Way, Penn, opened its doors to teachers and pupils past and present to celebrate the return of the music icon.
At the event, Ms Knight gave poignant words about her time at the school and the importance of accessible arts programmes for children.
Ms Knight said: "I had such a great time at Highfields, I come here and the memories are warm. I had such a great foundation for learning and training. I'm thankful for my time here.
"For me, seeing someone who is an aspirational figure, someone who has walked the path that you want to walk is essential. I am a true believer in kids being able to see the embodiment of someone they want to be. I had that in Jacki Graham.
"Hopefully these kids will see me, and where I am walking, these kids will run, sprint and fly."
