Willenhall virtual concert will be hosted on store car park
A supermarket is joining forces with a church which is putting on a virtual gospel concert to lift community spirits.
New Testament Church of God - Willenhall Tabernacle is organising the show which will see a gigantic screen installed in the grounds of Morrison superstore grounds opposite.
Acts will include some of the country's best known gospel performers including Walsall quartet Divine featuring Marlene and Melanie Kerr, Yvonne Findlay and Tracey Riggan; Philippa Hanna, from Sheffield, and Birmingham rapper Spanna.
Willenhall Tabernacle's Rev Roger Maynard said: "We are hosting the concert on a gigantic screen in the Morrison’s car park as a way of encouraging our community to believe that there is hope even in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic.
"The concert will be an uplifting and enlightening evening with a host of top gospel artists from across the country and across many different genres of gospel music.
"All of our communities have suffered a time of loss and pain during this Covid-19 season and we are believing that the concert will bring a bit of cheer whilst offering some hope that the seasons ahead of us will be much brighter.
Friends
"We trust that the people of Willenhall will support the evening as we come together with our friends at Morrison’s Willenhall to put a smile back on the faces of our community."
Previous plans for a concert inside the church was cancelled due to the pandemic.
The free show will be on September 27 at 7.30pm at the car park in Middle Piece Way. Car spaces must be booked via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hope-in-the-community-virtual-concert-tickets-119769524873?aff=ebdssbeac
