The Light House in the centre of the city has not reopened, or set a date to reopen, and has launched a £10,000 fundraiser called Help Us Switch The Lights Back On.
Now it has raised more than £5,000 – nearly half of the overall target – to cover the costs associated with making the venue in Fryer Street Covid-safe.
The independent cinema, based in the Chubb Buildings, has been working with EnPro group to investigate how to make the building coronavirus-safe.
The venue has been closed since lockdown began in March.
