Tallulah Rose Cullis-Owen from Wolverhampton won a national drawing competition and, as a prize, has won accommodation and theme park passes for two people.

The competition, which was organised by dance company Mardi Gras Dance, was open to children aged between five and 10 years old and asked them to draw a picture with a dance theme.

The competition was themed alongside the Mardi Gras dance challenge Disneyland Paris were doing, allowing dance schools to perform at the theme park.

The eight-year-old, who is a keen dancer who trains at the Georgina Keyes Dance Academy in Perton, produced a colourful drawing with a number of different dance styles.

Her father Steve said she got involved in the competition after being told about it by the dance academy and described the reaction from the family to the competition win.

He said: "It's such good news and everyone is really pleased for Tallulah, who is also beyond excited at the chance to go to Disneyland Paris.

"When I got the email telling us she'd won, I couldn't catch my breath and when I told Tallulah, she was so overwhelmed and got quite emotional."

Steve said Tallulah was a very artistic child and had asked for nothing else but art supplies for Christmas last year.

He said: "She asked for things like pastels and oil paints and new felt liners, so she was well stocked up when the competition came around.

"She found some drawings of dancers and then copied how they looked freehand, then added lots of colour and a picture of Mickey Mouse.

"We were very lucky to go to Disney in Florida last year, but this trip is going to be big for Tallulah and her mum Cheryl.

"I'm just super proud of her and all she's accomplished during lockdown as she's missed her school friends, but she's done so well with school work, dancing and now this."

Steve said she would be taking her trip to Disneyland Paris in 2021.
