A former youth worker has called on people to design a shirt which will be sold to raise money for New Cross Hospital.

Simon Suphandagli, who runs clothing brand Ejder, launched a competition on social media to seek out the best designs.

Money raised from the shirt sale will be handed over to the Wolverhampton hospital to support them in their coronavirus fight.

Mr Suphandagli said: "I worked as a youth worker in Wolverhampton for 10 years prior to starting my own fashion brand and that helped shape my values.

"I'm a strong believer of the importance of community, so it comes natural to use my platform to support the brave front line workers fighting this virus and ultimately working to protect all of us.

"My family members and I have all been patients at New Cross over the last 30 or more years, as well as knowing people who work – their fight is our fight."

Designs must reference a dragon – Ejder's symbol of strength and one which "aligns with the bravery" shown by front line workers across the country – and include the company's logo.

People can enter by direct messaging @ejderforlife on Instagram with the designs, with all formats welcome – including drawing, painting, collage or digital.

And people can then vote for their favourite – with the most votes being released a shirt to help New Cross Hospital.

Applications close on May 13.
