Tieghan Amos, aged 15, and her cousins twins Ronni and Macy Read, aged 10, wanted to thank the health service for their work during the coronavirus outbreak.

The girls, from Pendeford, created the 'Hats off to the Heroes' fundraiser and are asking others to make an NHS themed Easter bonnet to honour staff.

Tieghan said: "As a family we usually spend a lot of time together as we live very close to each other. But as we're in lockdown we can't be together so have been staying in touch and working together on this campaign through social media and calling each other.

"We love making things from junk modelling materials in our family so we came up with an idea to get families working together to show their appreciation for the NHS.

"We wanted to make a difference and help as much as we could during this uncertain time so we are going to share our idea on social media to get our friends and families involved."

The girls are encouraging people to share pictures of their own hats on the hats off to our heroes event page on Facebook.

Samantha Amos, Tieghan's mum, said: "I'm so proud of my daughter and nieces for creating this wonderful idea to help the NHS at this very challenging time."

The creative youngsters are hoping to raise £500, and all money donated will be donated to the NHS Charities.
