Experts from games design companies gave students from Wolverhampton College advice on working in the industry, as well as tips on producing portfolios, gaining work experience and applying for their first job.

The event, titled Wolverhampton Dev-Con 2020, gave budding designers a chance to enhance their employability skills and learn from those working in the industry.

Designers from games studios Flix Interactive, Playground Games and Rare passed on their expertise at the event at the Light House in the city centre.

They were joined by the Oliver Twins who started writing games aged 12, in the 1980s, and now run the games consultancy agency Games Dragons and composer Matthew Harper, who writes music for video games and tutors at Staffordshire University.

Students on the Level 3 course learn how to produce mobile and video games, develop 3D environments, create characters, sound and promote their own work.

David Walters, tutor in computer games development at Wolverhampton College, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet renowned experts in games design and get advice and tips on how to make it big in their future careers in the industry."
