Celebration time as fiesta raise £10,000 for charity
Celebrations were in full swing after a series of fiestas helped to raise nearly £10,000 for women's refuge.
Throughout December, Grand Station held a fiesta-themed Christmas events for companies and friendship groups to celebrate the festivities.
And each time the conference and events venue, which sits in the old lower train station, Wolverhampton, invited The Haven to host a raffle for guests.
Grand Station also donated 50p from every ticket sold towards the charity, as part of its Big Give Christmas challenge.
A total of £9,787.61 was raised, which will go towards providing emergency accommodation and community-based services for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
Jade Secker, fundraising manager at The Haven, said: "We are so incredibly thankful to Grand Station for their ongoing support and this fantastic opportunity.
"Not only did they help us to raise vital funds to ensure the women and children had an authentic Christmas experience, but the events allowed us to raise awareness of the services we can provide to women in need in the community.
"We would also like to say thank you to all the guests that attended for their generous donations.”
She added that although Christmas was a difficult time for those in refuge, events like those held at Grand Station helped The Haven raise awareness and funds to make the festive season that little bit more special for service users.
It also allowed the charity to ensure they could continue to provide vital services to vulnerable women and children throughout 2020, she added.
Danny Thompson, head of sales and business development at Grand Station, said all involved were delighted to have supported The Haven.
"They are an amazing charity that support our local community and so we are more than happy to have the ongoing partnership with them that we do through our Christmas events," he said.
"We are overwhelmed with the amount raised and know the difference it will make to women and children in Wolverhampton.”
