Thousands enjoy Blast of a fundraiser at Compton Care run - with pictures
Inflatable obstacles and an explosion of colour covered Wolverhampton’s East Park as hundreds of fundraisers took part in a charity run.
Compton Care hosted its fifth Colour Blast 5k which saw participants tackle inflatable obstacles and get blasted with an array of coloured powder at various intervals along the route on Sunday.
Those taking part dressed up in wigs, tutus and brightly coloured clothing to walk, jog and run the 5k with their family and friends cheering them on.
Once they had crossed the finish line, participants were handed paint sachets to throw into the air and at each other and dance as the colour rained down on them.
Event organiser Dawn Smith said: “We are thrilled that so many people joined us for our fifth Compton Colour Blast 5K at East Park. We were the first to bring this type of event to Wolverhampton and we are pleased that people are continuing to support us year on year by taking part.
“East Park was an explosion of colour and the atmosphere was brilliant with lots of fun and laughter. Our colour blast is always a really great event and this year the inflatables were a great addition this year with lots of people commenting how much fun thy had had trying to get over and through them.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped to raise money so that we’re able to continue to provide extraordinary care and their families living with the effects of complex and incurable illnesses. We are so incredibly grateful for your support.”
The event was sponsored by Western Power Distribution who had team of 30 employees taking part in the event, whilst 15 staff from Wolverhampton’s Primark store were also sponsored to join in the fun.
