Weekend event for Black Country wrestlers
Fight Club: PRO returns to Wolverhampton with a double-weekender focused on the stars of Japan’s Sendai Girls pro-wrestling promotion.
Founded by former Fight Club: PRO champion Meiko Satomura, Sendai Girls eschews the risque and comedic tropes of other Japanese women’s promotions, to present a more serious pro-wrestling product.
During Satomura’s 11-month reign as the Fight Club: PRO champion, the two promotions developed an increasingly close working relationship, with Sendai Girls helping to organise the logistics of Fight Club: PRO’s debut in Japan’s Korakuen Hall.
Satomura has not performed in the UK since she lost her title to Mark Davis in March. She returns to Wolverhampton on Friday at the second annual Return of the Sendai event, teaming with Dash Chisako, as they challenge Davis’s Schadenfreude stablemates Chris Brookes and Kyle Fletcher for the Fight Club: PRO Tag Team Titles.
This will be Tipton’s Chris Brookes first match in the UK since spending six weeks touring Japan with the Dramatic Dream Team Pro-Wrestling promotion.
The Japanese theme continues with the other title match, with Mark Davis defending his singles championship against Shigehiro Irie. In a match to be confirmed, Wolverhampton resident El Phantasmo will make his return to Fight Club: PRO after touring both Japan and Australia with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
On Saturday the action moves to Manchester.
Sendai Girls show outside of Japan at the Manchester Academy One. As with on Easter Sunday for the finale of the Dream Tag Team Invitational Tournament, fans from Wolverhampton will be travelling in a coach organised by the promotion.
West Midlands’ residents Millie McKenzie and Charlie Evans will be defending their Sendai Girls Tag Team Titles against Japanese pro-wrestlers Chihiro Hashimoto and Yuu.
Elsewhere on the card, Satomura will face WWE UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm and Scotland’s Kay Lee Ray will face Dash Chisako, in what promises to be one of the biggest all-women pro-wrestling events to be held in Britain this year.
Fight Club: PRO’s Return of Sendai - Part Two takes place on Friday, July 26, at The Hangar in Wolverhampton, and Sendai UK on Saturday, July 27, at the Manchester One Academy.
