Comic collection to go under the hammer in Wolverhampton
A complete collection of 2000AD comic books is set to go under the hammer on Friday.
The comics, which range from the first issue to the 2,111 issue, will be sold at Cuttlestones' Wolverhampton sale room in Clarence Street.
It will be sold by a collector who spent more than 41 years amassing the issues and is expected to reach between £400 to £600.
The comics, which date from February 1977 to December 2018, feature editions in both colour and in black and white.
It represents a complete run of the cult British classic, which features post-apocalyptic cop Judge Dredd.
Editions also feature Tharg the Mighty and space swashbuckler Dan Dare.
Cuttlestones’ book expert, Rosie Blackburn, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for either serious comic collectors to get their hands on a complete ready-made collection or for fans of the 2000AD series to own every single issue ever published.
"We anticipate strong International interest in this lot.
"It's a full set of comics from number one right the way through to right before Christmas last year.
"For comics they're in pretty good condition.
"We're pretty certain it's a full set. We've never seen a full set because most people had the comics when they were kids and they chucked them out. Adult collectors would normally struggle to get each one. We believe this one collected them from a kid and kept going and unfortunately he passed away last year and now the family are selling the collection.
It's unusual to have a full set. The first one or two comics would've come with a free gift but we've not got them.
"It's estimated between £400 to £600but it's difficult to know how much they will go to."
