Wolverhampton artist Neone leads rap night at Birmingham's Sunflower Lounge
November started with a bang’as Wolverhampton musicians took to the stage of The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham to showcase their talent.
The event was a great success, with artists Neone, Infamous Dimez and Kaycee2 filling the venue with music fans.
Neone's performance included a glimpse at his current musical project he is working on - recording and releasing to the public in the form of creative, metaphorical videos. The project falls in line with the current movement to bring awareness to the high suicide rates in men, encouraging them to discuss their feelings.
Its sentiment was felt throughout the venue with Neone creating a safe space for audience members to feel and express themselves.
The show was hosted by rapper and producer Tarju Lesano and artist and performer Jae Renee, who had to call the modest Neone back onto stage to the wild applause from the audience after his set.
“I felt honoured to be on stage amongst artists and musicians of such skill and to have my story brought to life,” Neone said. “It was a scary delight to allow myself to be so exposed and vulnerable in front of the audience, but my intention was to display humanity in its depth, shamelessly, to enable others to do the same.”
The show had a full live band and included performances from Birmingham-born singer-songwriter Kaycee2, Wolverhampton-based rapper-songwriter Infamous Dimez and Birmingham-based Dj Tehn. The stage also welcomed features from further Wolverhampton artists, rapper-songwriter Ayy and music entrepreneur Vital - a former The Ticket Unsigned page star.
Neone spoke about the need for people to speak out on their emotions and his artistic expression, adding: “There are too many ways for us to suppress ourselves and so it felt good to break that."
Further performances and album releases from Neone will be advertised on his social media page, search @neonemsc on Instagram.
