Lions Of Dissent have set another headline gig up at The Hummingbird, Wolverhampton

The creative collective - who can count up to 10 members in their line-up - have booked themselves in at the city's The Hummingbird on December 1 to follow on from their triumphant sell-out performance at Newhampton Arts Centre last time out in their hometown.

Lions Of Dissent appeared on The Ticket's unsigned page in November last year, and have spent the past 12 months or so growing themselves as a live act and picking up rave reviews from the likes of Simon Raymonde from Cocteau Twins, Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre, BBC Radio 6's Tom Robinson and Lee Scratch Perry and Simone Marie Butler from Primal Scream.

"It is a while off yet and we will have a new single out also around the same time," said spokeswoman Annette Duchamp. "We sold out Newhampton Arts centre last time we played in Wolverhampton and will hopefully do the same again."

The night will double up as The Hummingbird's big Christmas party, with support provided by Birmingham band Brain Food, fellow Wulfrunian Bryony Williams and the venue's own Stay Loose DJs - as well as a special DJ set from Simon Lindley of Yorkshire alt-rockers Exit Calm. The band's merchandise will also be available to buy on the night.

The event's Facebook page states: "Expect a carnival of technicolour live music, with great supports and a guest DJ set from Simon Lindley. All this alongside the usual quality offering from your resident Stay Loose DJs, Ian Davies and Carl Auzins, of the former legendary Blast off Back Bar, spinning Mod, ska, soul, indie, funk, jazz and 60s until 3am."

The announcement follows hot on the heels of the release of their latest music video this summer.

August saw the unnerving accompaniment to the track Honey From Hell. The DIY band do all of their own work, from their lyrics and music to studio and video production, video, art and website design, screen printing T-shirts and curating photo shoots.

This continued with the Honey From Hell video.

Originally scheduled for release in April, Honey From Hell's release date was postponed to late July to accommodate vinyl production - a direct result of an online fan campaign for a vinyl release.

It was initially premiered by music and fashion magazine Clash, who described the single as a 'beautifully brutal, full-on multi-dimensional sonic experience'.

It was released with B-side Don’t Let The Darkness In and 'augmented by the cosmic artwork of Wolverhampton graphic designer Sister Minor'.

Lead guitarist Rob Wear said, “Vinyl is the ultimate format to release music on and we are very proud to present Honey from Hell as our first release - it will hopefully be the first of many!”
