Big Country, Robin 2, Bilston - concert review
It's nearly 17 years since Stuart Adamson died, co-founder and lead singer of Big Country.
However. fellow original members Bruce Watson, on guitar, and Mark Brzezicki, on drums, are keeping their music alive.
At the Robin 2 they certainly did just that.
Kicking off with 1000 Stars and ending with In A Big Country both from their first album The Crossing, which Bruce Watson reminded us was 35 years old and came in a varity of album sleeve covers in 1983.
Asking the crowd “Who had the Blue one? Or the Red one? Or the Green one? Or the rare Tartan one?” followed by cheers for each one.
The band ripped through many of their hits and classic album tracks such as Look Away, King Of Emotion and Chance with the packed Robin 2 loving every minute of it.
The singing duties are now done by Simon Hough, who does a great job, Scott Whitley is on bass and Bruce Watson’s son, Jamie, finishes the quintet.
Long may they keep the Big Country music alive. If this show is anything to go by they certainly will.
