The university has put up a photo of the 30-year-old Nigerian actress on the walls, alongside other notable graduates.

And the actress, who has starred in Nigerian drama Knocking On Heaven’s Door and romantic comedy The Wedding Party, said seeing the photo was ‘brilliant’.

She added: “I’m super honoured.” Adesua wrote a moving post on Instagram about her life in Wolverhampton, saying: “Today, I’m grateful for my university education.

“I remember how my mum and I would sit and wonder how we’d pay my university fees every single year.

“It’s amazing how God took me from that, to being celebrated and put on the wall by the same university that we could barely afford.

“It may look hard right now but hang in there, there’s nothing God cannot do. It will end in praise but remember to put in the work.” A spokesman for the University of Wolverhampton tweeted: Great to see award-winning Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi talking about her time at the University of Wolverhampton! Here she is on our wall of Alumni in the Rosalind Franklin building.”
