Wolverhampton artist Kupid the King to play debut album in Robin 2 gig
A young Wolverhampton musician is 'excited' to take the 'huge' step of performing his first headline show in his home city.
Kupid the King, real name Kupid Val-Essoné, has lined up a date at Bilston's Robin 2 on September 15 and wants to spend the next month getting people on-board so that he steps out to a bumper crowd.
“As soon as I started taking music seriously, people started to take me seriously,” says the singer, who is bringing a night of hip hop and soul to a venue normally linked to rock and metal.
It's a busy time for Kupid, he also has his debut record Lost Boy: The Album to promote, and will be using the Robin 2 gig to showcase it to fans.
"I have my first live headline concert happening on September 15 at the Robin 2," Kupid said. "This is a huge step for me. As a performing and recording artist who has always supported upcoming talent around the city it's really exciting to finally be able to dedicate so much time into my own journey."
Kupid the King started recording Lost Boy: The Album with Beatsabar Music Project at Newhampton Arts Centre in late 2016. Kupid worked alongside Keith 'Spock' Dilworth and Nathan Neone to produce his debut, which tells stories of bereavement, relationships and family breakdowns, triumph and success.
Kupid will perform the record with a full live band at Robin 2. The evening will also include performances from The Midlands' freshest rap band Rais at Night, who are fronted by Birmingham’s Tarju Le’Sano and Wolverhampton’s Ayy, conscious lyricist Infamous Dimez, and West Bromwich-born R&B power vocalist Priscilla Cameron.
Kupid added: "The night promises to be a spectacle of great live music, dance and fashion with a few special surprises. Tickets are now on sale for the general public to purchase."
