Hollywood actress cast in big screen adaptation of Caitlin Moran's novel
A Hollywood actress has been cast in the film adaptation of a best-selling novel by Wolverhampton author Caitlin Moran.
Beanie Feldstein, known for her roles in Lady Bird and Bad Neighbours 2, has been cast in the big screen production of Moran’s ‘How To Build A Girl’.
The movie, which is directed by Coky Giedroyc, is based on Moran’s semi-autobiographical novel.
Feldstein will be playing Johanna Morrigan, a Wolverhampton teenager who has an urge to reinvent herself by moving to London and becoming a cool, hard-drinking music writer.
The actress, who is the younger sister of comedy actor Jonah Hill, said: "The women making this movie are the most warm, bright, powerful, passionate women ever to exist.
"I’ve never been more honoured than to join them on this journey to Wolverhampton, England. @caitlinmoran, thank you for creating the girl I get to build. You’re astonishing."
Moran hailed Feldstein's performance, saying: "Can FINALLY talk about this – what we've been working on for the last two years. SCREAMINGLY excited.
"Oh, the first scene is a DOOZY. And Beanie is just ... astonishing. The world is going to EXPLODE with love for her."
According to the Monumental Pictures, the producer of the film, the leading character is 'one of the great female literary icons on a par with Elizabeth Bennet and Bridget Jones'.
Filming will start in July and the movie is set to be released next year.
