Ian Davies, 41, has opened his record shop Stay Loose, on Farmers Fold, Wolverhampton.

The DJ took to the decks in his teens, developing a love for soul and funk music.

Ian has a long-term relationship with Wolverhampton nightlife; he began DJing at the former Blast Off event at the age of 19.

The inspiration behind the name of his shop came from the record Stay Loose by Jimmy Smith.

Owner-to-be and DJ Ian Davies said: "I always tried to play the track, but it cleared out the dance floor every time, so I decided to name the shop after it.

"I have an event on four times a month called Stay Loose as well, so it all ties together."

Ian will be selling both new and old vinyl records of all genres, along with CDs which he has collected over the years.

To promote the launch, Birmingham-based DJ Sam Redmore will be supplying "anything funky" throughout the opening day - his profile has almost 750,000 followers on popular music streaming service Soundcloud.

I an added: "I can't wait to get the doors open, it's been a long time coming.

"It is an amazing feeling, I'm taking a huge gamble but I don't want to be 70 and looking back wishing that I'd done it."

But Ian isn't stopping there - the DJ already has plans to expand his business and is looking to relocate to somewhere with more space, so he can fulfil his dream of owning a record shop and coffee shop in one.

This record and coffee shop hybrid would be the first of its type in the Midlands.

"Going forward that's my plan, where customers can have a chat and a coffee, with records playing in the background," he said.
