Shifnal pumpkin festival is a hit with families
Hundreds were at Apley Farm Shop over the weekend for its sell-out pumpkin festival – as preparations begin for round two during October half term.
Families enjoyed a non-scary day out on Saturday and Sunday at the Spookley Pumpkin Festival.
Youngsters got the chance to ride the Pumpkin Express, listen to the spooky stories and pick a pumpkin and carve it in the Carving Cavern.
On top of this there was glitter tattoos a free pumpkin nature trail, pumpkin barbecue in the Apley Courtyard and taste pumpkin recipes in the Creamery Café.
And from October 21 to 29, those that couldn't make it at the weekend will have the chance to head along.
Lady Harriet Hamilton, said: “We were delighted by the very positive uptake over the first weekend of our Spookley Pumpkin Festival at Apley Farm Shop.
"The very warm Autumnal weather of course helped, but it’s always great to see children getting right up close to food production – selecting a pumpkin, carving it & tasting pumpkin recipes in our Creamery Café.
"Central to our mission statement is to get local food consumers to meet local food producers – local food by local producers for local people. Getting them out to the countryside for the day, in the fresh air, enjoying really wholesome & tasty food.“
Apley Farm Shop’s team were up to really get into the spirit of the pumpkin festival and Apley Farm are inviting customers to do the same.
Customers are being encouraged to post their photos of their fancy dress and carved pumpkins on the Pigg’s Playbarn Facebook page to have a chance to win two Spookley Little Pigg’s hampers, each worth £55.
The festival runs daily 9:30 to 5:30pm daily (5pm on Sunday).
