Wolverhampton 'Yarnival' entertains crowds

A special workshop saw people knit a map of Wolverhampton, spin a yarn and drop a spindle at a unique event in the city.

The Wool-ves Yarnival at Newhampton Arts Centre saw people try out a range of traditional crafts in the unique yarn, fleece, thread and fibre-focused event.

Activities included spinning, using wheels and drop spindles, weaving on a different types of loom, felting, knitting and crochet.

Lessons on the history of spinning, weaving and felting took place as well as the opportunity to discover how fleece becomes a jumper. Visitors also got involved in making a community rug and dropped spindles from recycled CDs.

The event at the arts centre saw experts and enthusiasts from Hembra Crafting and Kings Spinners and Weavers, Walsall Spinners and Weavers, Wrekin Spinners, Knit and Knatter Codsall, Pendeford Craft Hub guide those new to the crafts.
