The play will be hosted and performed by the award winning Circle Players, which celebrated its 90th year last year.

Under the banner ‘Comedy Shorts’ the four plays include the playwright’s best known ‘Last Tango in Little Grimley’.

The show will be performed at Aldridge Youth Theatre from Wednesday, February 12 to Saturday, February 15.

Show director Julie Sadler wanted to choose scripts which had rich characters and classic comedy lines, and the four pieces are outstanding examples of comedy drama writing.

“The two Little Grimley short plays have four members of a village drama group with wonderful wordplay and reactions," she said.

"David’s new ‘Saving the Planet’ play explores the misunderstandings we all experience trying to be eco-friendly, and it questions cleverly if or why we should try to be green.”

"Women Only is a two actor piece about an elderly mother and her daughter taking a short break after a bereavement," she added.

"Moving and emotional, it is however packed full of laughs.

"Finally, the short but explosive piece ‘Joining the Club’ is a glimpse into the life of two young professionals in an afternoon where futures are changed forever."

David Tristram, originally from Quarry Bank and now based near Bridgnorth, has written 31 plays, several films and books and is the creator of local comedy sensation ‘Doreen Tipton’.

Circle Players chair Gill Troman said: “We’re honoured that David Tristram will be able to see his latest play performed for the first time by Circle Players and thank him for his support of Julie and the cast in this production”.
