Jaki Graham: No more excuses, it's time to get into shape

Well, I must have done something right because I'm back here chatting to you again.

We're now almost a month into 2014. Be honest with me, how many of you are actually sticking to your New Year's resolutions, or have you given up already?

I have to laugh as I'm rubbish at keeping resolutions. I gave up making them years ago because I'm one of those people that seems to be allergic to them.

I do know one thing though, it's time for me to get fit. No, I'm not joining a gym (think I'm allergic to those too), but I do have loads of unused gym equipment I've yet to take out of their boxes. It's a bit of a bone of contention with my hubbie Tony and daughter Natalie.

You see, it's a big year for me this year and I want to be in the best shape possible.

It's my 30-year anniversary in showbiz from when I released my first single and album. It's quite surreal and making me feel slightly old. What makes it worse is that I have fans tweeting me saying, 'I was 12 when I first bought one of your records'. They do say time flies when you're having fun and I've certainly had a lot of that. It's nice to know that so many of you have grown and continued on this journey with me.

There's lots planned and in the diary already. Bookings are coming in thick and fast, which is why I need to get fit. This is where Natalie comes in. Lord help me, she's like a machine, that girl.

She's got me on dandelion leaf, spirulina, herbal tea... you name it, I'm on it.

She's turned herself into the juicing/blending queen with a new kitchen gadget. I think I've created a monster.

Oh, and apparently I'm not allowed any alcohol for four whole weeks. Yes, I know, it's torture. I told you I've never been drunk in my life but I do like a nice glass of red wine with my dinner (they say it's good for your health – or at least that's my excuse).

However, it seems my Tony's been let off the hook slightly. He has to be careful with certain foods until he has his heart operation, as they can interfere with his medication.

But I don't have any excuse to get this machine away from me – and by machine, I'm still referring to Natalie. Thank goodness she's not thrown the idea of doing a fitness DVD into the mix as part of the 30-year celebrations.

However, I do have a pilates machine, multi-gym, stomach toners, one of everything. I've had them for three years and never used a single one of them. I told you I was terrible.

I have an official instagram account too, so be prepared for some very unflattering images as I start out on what sounds like a treacherous journey.

Therefore, to all you fitness freaks who, like me, have pledged to get healthy, then I feel your pain.

So how about we take this journey together because I don't know about you but I could really use some moral support.

Better still, send me any workout plans you think may help. I'm with you every step of the way.

Best of luck.
