A touch of Easter comes to Walsall
Children and adults in an area of Walsall were encouraged to get up and exercise by a special performance.
People living in and around Montgomery Road in Bentley entered into the Easter spirit as they joined in a dance with the Easter Bunny.
The Easter Bunny dance was the idea of Jessica Bevan, a 30-year-old Support worker who dresses up every year as the Easter Bunny to perform for children in her area.
She said: "It was about telling the children that we can still celebrate Easter at a safe distance.
"Last year, I was doing home visits as the bunny, dancing with the children and giving out Easter eggs, so I thought it was a bit of a shame I couldn't do that because of the lockdown.
"I decided to adapt it and do the dancing on my driveway to get the children involved, obviously at a safe distance, and to help them enjoy Easter."
Jessica, who counts Easter as one of her favourite times of the year, said there were children from houses around the street taking part, as well as elderly neighbours.
She said: "I danced to 'Can't stop the feeling' by Justin Timberlake and also did a version of 'We're going on a bear hunt' with an Easter theme.
"I used to be a teaching assistant, so a lot of the kid's songs came back to me and I decided to incorporate that into proceedings to make it more fun for them."
Jessica also did Facetime dances for children who couldn't attend the dancing she was doing because of the social gathering restrictions, with more than 20 calls taking place.
She said the support was wonderful and really showed the community spirit that people could generate during this uncertain time.
She said: "Just because we're at home, it doesn't mean we can't try to keep everyone's spirits up with a little bit of fun.
"There's lots of ways we can keep our spirits up and help make people smile."
